Eddison is one of a few band that can blend equal amounts of synthesizer and guitars and still make a strong rock sound. Much of the credit has to go to the writing and the arranging of the songs. While Adam Keenan and Ricky Osborne put out the rock guitar sound you expect, the interplay with Evil Al’s keyboards makes this an exceptional band. Super groups like Emerson, Lake and Palmer or Asia were unable to have the balance of guitars and keyboards, making them not really a rock band any more but some kind of an artsy band. Eddison can play soft or hard, with a 70 and 80’s synthesizer sound but never a dated sound. They still sound as contemporary or ahead of any band on the charts today. By the way Jason Still on bass and Michael Field on drums do a great job.If you go by Eddison’s web site you can get this must have CD plus other great information.

The balance between guitars and synthesizers are very good. Killer Scene opens with the sound of a door opening, an early day synthesizer sound. It is very simple in starting off. A lead guitar starts off, a pounding drum kicks in at the same time. The synthesizer starts playing the other lead guitar comes in and were off and running. What is so good about this is how the guitars and synthesizers work off each other. Neither one plays in the spotlight very long before the other one jumps back in. This is very enjoyable because you never get tired of the same sound and a feel of newness is always there. The pounding drums and bass guitar keeps it all on track. Check out Eddison’s Web site.

Eddison is out of Aberdeen,Scotland where they have played many concerts. The real interesting thing is why they have not gotten massive radio play. For instance, if the radio played Eddison, they would not be able to play all the other junk they want us to hear. Once you heard Eddison you would find it’s time to turn the radio off, nothing they play will be better than Eddison. They have one EP (Eddison EP) and one CD (Black Above The Trees), If the four songs I played here (and the Bonus tracks on Sunday and Tuesday ) are an indicator of what the EP and CD are like, they have more good songs than most artists have made in a five years span. Now I may be bias because the first time I heard them I liked them alot. That’s just the way it is. Thomas Eddison made the light bulb, now this Eddison will light up rock n’ roll for all to see. You are the winner because four of those tracks are right here.
